Description
A delicious and easy-to-make Swiss Mushroom Melt Sandwich with sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese.

- 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices bread (your choice: sourdough, whole grain, etc.)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Season the mushrooms with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In another skillet or griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Place two slices of bread in the skillet.
- Top each slice of bread with a slice of Swiss cheese.
- Spoon the sautéed mushrooms evenly over the cheese on both slices of bread.
- Place another slice of Swiss cheese on top of the mushrooms.
- Top with the remaining two slices of bread, pressing down gently.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Carefully flip the sandwich and add the remaining butter to the skillet.
- Cook until the second side is golden and the cheese is melted, about another 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from the skillet, slice the sandwich in half, and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
