Description

Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu (well-drained and pressed)
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Start by pressing the firm tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for about 15 minutes.
  2. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes, roughly 1-inch each for optimal crispiness.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the cubed tofu gently with cornstarch, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until each piece is evenly coated.
  4. In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Carefully add tofu cubes to the hot oil in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once crispy, remove the tofu with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Drizzle soy sauce over the crispy tofu or serve alongside your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy the crispy goodness!
